Located in the Tohoku region, approximately 260 km north of Tokyo,
Gran Deco belongs to the Mount Bandai area, one of the most famous volcanoes in Japan and an all-season resort area. Lake Inawashiro (Japan’s third largest lake) and many other smaller lakes make the Bandai region ideal for sailing, cycling, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowboarding and scores more of outdoor fun activities.
The network of expressways on the Pacific side of Japan, which is usually dry and sunny in winter make it easy to access by car.
Take the Tohoku Expressway to KORIYAMA, then onto the Banetsu Expressway to INAWASHIRO-BANDAIKOGEN. From there it’s another 24 km following the road signs towards Urabandai and then Gran Deco.
If you chose to come by train, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Koriyama station. You will need to change to the Banetsu West Line to Inawashiro station where a free shuttle bus service will take you to our resort; altogether in just three hours from Tokyo.

| Gran Deco is the highest quality winter resort in the area. It has one gondola lift and four quad lifts all equipped with hoods which will take you up from 1010m to 1590m. Snow conditions are excellent and skiing and snowboarding are possible until the Golden Week in May. More than three quarters of the 4km top-to-bottom runs are suitable for young children. Furthermore,the layout out the runs is such that families or groups need not worry about any members of their party getting lost on the mountain. At the base area all necessary facilities from rentals, restaurants to rest rooms are all conveniently located in one complex. Two restaurants further up the mountain will offer you a splendid view of Mt. Bandai and Lake Inawashiro. |

| In The Green Season |

| You can enjoy Gran Deco not only in the winter season but also in the warmer seasons. There is a hiking trail starting from the top of the gondola station that leads all the way down 6 km to scenic Lake Hibara on a two-and-a-half hour hike. 20 minutes from the start, the trail will take you around a marsh. 40 minutes from there is the HYAKKAN SHIMIZU fountain where you can quench your thirst with fresh mountain water. Another 45 minutes later you will get to the NUNO Falls, which are the only waterfalls on the Azuma river. The trail will then take you down to Lake Hibara. The gondola lift operates from spring throughout autumn from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily. The cafe´ Bunabuna at the top is open throughout the hiking season. |
